I took Luke 7 as today’s passage. When the centurion sent word to Jesus that He need only speak the word and his servant would be healed, I felt my Father trying to say something to me through this. It was very difficult to understand, though. I felt as if something were “scrambling the signal.” It was very uncomfortable. Finally, I realized that my Father was calling me to intercessory prayer for those who needed Him to say the word that they, too, might be healed. I spent some time in prayer for them and then felt led to continue the chapter.

As with yesterday, my Father gave me the message for the day, then was gone. It was a struggle to stay awake, and I often dozed off. I really feel terrible about this. I feel so ungrateful that I can’t stay awake for even an hour. As I write this, I remember that Peter, James, and John had the same problem at Gethsemane, and just before the Transfiguration. Perhaps I should take those passages for tomorrow’s reading. My Father might be trying to tell me something through this problem. (1) At least I will have the consolation of knowing that they turned out all right despite this failing, so there is hope for me, too.
