My Father led me through several passages that, in turn, led me to ask for His aid for myself. Jeremiah 31: 31 recalled to my mind the covenant that I have with my Father, and to ask for the strength to be faithful to it. Deuteronomy 1: 12 -17 spoke of God’s partnership with the judges of Israel, and so I was moved to ask my Father to be my partner in all that I do, and to help me be His partner - His instrument - in all that He wills. He recalled to me the basis of His plan for mankind that He and we would work together. Psalm 91 led me to ask for the grace of learning my hidden faults, so that I can overcome them.

Isaiah 9: 5 contained the words “Wonder-Counselor” and they struck me with awe. I was content for a long while to just repeat them again and again. It occurred to me that we, ourselves, cannot possess Divine Wisdom, but we can call on our Wonder-Counselor in our need.

I was very tired, and the time went quicker than I had thought it would. Still, I was restless at times. (1)

(1) Spiritual director: Sometimes if we give ourselves to Him, He corrects our faults within ourselves without us knowing all He is doing.
