APRIL 24, 1986

I returned to Hebrews 12 tonight. Verse 29,"For our God is a consuming fire," was very meaningful. My Father gave me a visual image very similar to Moses' burning bush. Rather than be terrified and trembling, though, I felt the bush calling to me. I accepted the call, and a spark of the fire ignited within me. As it blazed up, I could feel myself being consumed. Part of my "self" seemed to just melt away.

The fire was God's love, and as it melted away some of my selfishness, I had a great longing to share the fire with the whole world. My Father began giving me a series of images, then. They were like a slide show, quick flashes of the sins of the world. They were very heavy and depressing. Then, the subject matter changed to acts of kindness and love, and they lifted me up to very high hope even though He showed me only a few of them. I was given to understand that this was love covering a multitude of sins. The power of love is far stronger than that of hate.

We moved on to Isaiah 55 as the priest suggested. Verses 3 and 6 came together in my mind with Hebrews 12:25 (all are about listening to God), and I began begging my Father to speak so I could listen and learn.

He answered my prayer and spoke to me through verses 10 and 11. I saw two levels of meaning in these. The first was the Word, Jesus, going forth from the Father to achieve salvation. I was given a strong sense of His fidelity.

The second level was God's word in me. He is teaching me for a purpose. Both the teaching and purpose arise from His love and are toward a definite end. Like the Word, I must be faithful to reach the fullness of His love. I understood this to apply not just to me but to all His children.

Verse 13 spoke to me briefly about God's ability to bring good out of evil.

I was very tired tonight and dozed off frequently. It didn't seem to disrupt things, though. My Father just seemed to let me take naps between lessons!
