JOURNEY is the fruit of an experiment in spiritual direction by mail based loosely on The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. It chronicles the day-by-day growth of a soul reaching out to God.
Please see Introduction
I began with 1 Corinthians 5: 17 –21. Through this my Father showed me His great desire to join with us in spiritual union. This is what He created us for. God is Love, and Love must be shared, thus the reason for our existence. However, sin separates us from God. In order for us to have union with God, as He wills, we must first be reconciled with Him. His desire for union with us -- His love for us – is the root for His great desire to forgive us.
He led me on to Luke 15: 1 –10, and, through the parable of the lost sheep, began to teach me of the importance of the completeness of the flock or perhaps the unity of it. It was a single concept that I grasped – that the lost sheep was important to all. In my frailty, I failed to understand more, but fell into a very deep sleep that lasted well beyond midnight. I was unable to rouse myself to do more than crawl into bed when I awoke. I will return to this passage, and hope my Father will continue with this lesson, as so much is still unclear to me.
