I began with Isaiah 49: 13-19. I was especially struck by verse 17, that my Father will lead and teach me. I still can’t get used to the idea that the Creator of the Universe is teaching me personally. As I thought of this, He showed me the reason, so I might have no doubts. He made me for a purpose, a unique one, just as each of us has a unique reason for being. How else am I to know that purpose, and achieve it for Him if He doesn’t instruct me personally? No one but He knows what that purpose is. How could anyone else instruct me? That made such sense!

From there He led me through Isaiah 54: 4-8, Isaiah 62: 1-7, and Jeremiah 31. As with last night’s reading these seemed to be the story of my life. They told of my betrayal, my Father leading me back to Him, our covenant, and now Jesus’ espousal. Jesus was very close to me as I read these. I tried to spend the last few minutes of the prayer period in thanks and praise. There were several unavoidable interruptions, though, and those began to frustrate me. I offered the discomfort in union with the Cross as my thanksgiving. The time went moderately fast except the last part, which dragged.
